My landlord refuses to allow me to clean my apartment myself before I leave. I understand he can charge me for carpet as obviously I can’t do that myself. In my contract it says two sort of contradicting things "The security deposit shall cover damage to the premises and/or property caused by the breach of the Agreement, including nonpayment of the rent: and cleaning the premises upon the termination or expiration of the tenancy." (which sounds to me like if I didnt clean he could take it out of my deposit to pay for cleaning. Not that he can charge me whatever he wants to have someone come clean it even if I do a good job. Then it says a few pages later "residents, upon vacating the premisses, shall clean the unit to the standard of a professional rental cleaning company or if they prefer, hire a company of the owners choosing, to accomplish the task, In this case the cleaning company will be….)" He actually didn’t write anything into the blank. Can he legally charge me to have a cleaning company come in ever if I clean it to the standard of a "professional rental cleaning company"?

I recently moved into my first apartment and its pretty nice except for the carpet in the living room. Its a kight green color and it’s just full if stains. I would love to just put a new carpet in but thats not really practical because I’m just renting the place. It waould cost stanley steamers about 0 to clean it but this carpet is really old and stained. Would it even be worth that? I’m afraid I’m gonna spend the money and it’s still gonna look gross

I am located here in Sydney and moving out of a rented apartment. The new owner wants to move in so we have to evacuate. We just got told from the real estate agent that we will need to hire steam cleaner (for carpets) and a apartment cleaner (never heard of this one before). I was just wondering if it’s the owner’s, who sold the apartment, responsibility to clean the place up for the new buyer. I am ok with carpet cleaning as I know few people who have had this done..but I have never heard of hiring an apartment cleaner too. Is this the norm? I was going to clean the apartment myself before moving out anyway.

I have hired a local carpet cleaning service to come clean my apartment and I was wondering whether I am supposed to tip them on top of paying the normal service rate.

My cat uses her litter box – but will also piss on clothing I leave on the floor, which then soaks into the carpet. How do I clean the carpet to get rid of the smell? I don’t want to hire a professional cleaner and I don’t have a carpet cleaning machine.

Also – how do I get the cat to STOP doing that? She’s pissed on my jeans, shorts, and leather jacket now in the past 2 weeks. The common thing I’ve noticed is that it’s only when my clothing is left on the carpeting. She won’t piss on them (not yet) if they are sitting on a table or couch or anything that’s elevated above floor level. She also only pisses on stuff I’ve worn – not the stuff I leave on the floor fresh from the washing machine.

I’m going to try to make a habit of not leaving my clothing on the floor – but still – I want it to stop.
The cat is a 9 year old female that was "fixed" already. The cat has lived with me in my mother’s house from 1998-2004. My apartment 2005-2006. A friend’s house 2006-2007. Now she’s back with me again in my apartment.

I live in a apt… on bedroom and living room have carpet i have cleaned everything in their to rid some allergies but thought i think i better clean the carpet, when i vaccumm i pick up hairs and etc from my pets and then dirt also. Still doesnt help i wake up with red eyes so i want to know should i steam clean or shampoo carpet its not very thick about 2 inches and its sort of fluffy cream carpet? i dont know what the difference is can please help… and carpet hasnt been cleaned in 3 yrs its looks great though but underneath is another story.
i only have red eyes when im in the apartment… anywhere else im fine!

I recently moved into an apartment and found red kool-aid stain on the carpets. They were professionally cleaned the day before I moved in and I have used Kids N Pets cleaner on them, used my shampooer at least 3 times and used my Bissell Little Green with Mr. Clean in it. Nothing is getting them out. I’m looking for cleaners from the store or home remedies, anything to get these hideous stains out.

I almost had my asthma under control before I decided to vacuum/steam clean my carpets. If it gets too hot and stuffy in the apartment it does wake me up and I have to sleep with a fan on. Any thoughts would be sincerely appreciated.

We are moving out of an apartment. I am thinking cleaning up the carpet to avoid deposition deduction. The carpet is light color and has some stains on it. I wonder what is a good way to do it. Is it a good idea to rent some tools to clean it? Or to hire some people to do it? Thanks for answering.

I have a bleach stain on my beige carpet. Now, the carpet where the stain is looks pink. I rent an apartment and before having to hire some type of carpet cleaning service, I was wondering if I could something to remove the stain. Any suggestions?
