Okay so we moved into our first house about a week ago. We were getting all settled in and I felt like the carpet needed a good cleaning.The people before us had two large dogs and there was hair everywhere. So I borrowed my moms heavy duty steam cleaner and gave it a try. It did a good job,but when I woke up the next morning there were random yellow spots. Well no one wants yellow spots on their white carpet so I figured maybe the steam cleaner didnt get all the water out. I went and rented a rug doctor and did a big no no and started cleaning it again just as it was almost dry. I think its safe to assume i saturated them and now Im really upset because I have yellow patches every where now :/ I cant afford to have new carpet or wood put in right now so I hired a carpet cleaning business. The mildew smell has subsided as its been extremely humid here for the past several days. Ive had every window in the house open and a fan going to get ventilation. So i guess my question is will the carpet cleaners be able to fix this? have i completely ruined the carpet and pad?Im not sure what to do….
I use a hoover steam vac. It works ok but does not get the carpets very clean. How can I get the carpets cleaner?
I will try the oxy clean. You sure it wont make the carpet cleaner foam up? will it hurt the carpet?
What about carpet cleaners with oxy clean in them?
My son and nephew are both 26. Both work as carpet cleaners. They are "guaranteed" per hour, but if they work fast and sell add ons, they make more like .50 to per hour. The two of them spend an hour in a home, let’s say they get . The bill to the homeowner is about 0. The equipment is about ,000 total. They pull it around on a small trailer using their own car. For this they get 50ยข per mile, which to me seems pretty cheap. They tell me they use perhaps worth of supplies on a 0 job.
Seems to me, the owner of the business gets too much of the money. I could scratch together ,000 and get them started with better equipment than they use now… get their car fixed up and repainted… get about ,000 worth of ads placed.
They are one of two teams at this job. They do about 20% extra business in November and December. May and June are also very big months. To get them started in the next few weeks is certainly possible. Their boss would be really screwed up to hire/train new workers. He’d be their main competitor. I told them deliver all the "regulars" a flier and tell them you are out on your own, because if they like them, they will probably switch to them.
Does this sound like it is a good time? Get everything in place within 4 weeks, then give notice of immediate or nearly immediate resignation. Any tips would be appreciated.
