need a combination wood floor carpet steam cleaner?

I need a combination hardwood floor and carpet steam cleaner/scrubber. Does any one have a good recommendation for this? I have 2 cats and I don’t want to buy 2 separate units. I would like something that deep cleans carpets and can be used on hardwood floors. I am so tired of reading websites and reviews!!

What can I use to remove cat urine/odor in my carpet?

My cat(s) has urinated twice on my carpet. I have done EVERYTHING. Nothing seems to remove the odor. I have no padded carpeting. I DON’T want anything that will stain my carpet either. I bought a Hoover carpet cleaner and have been cleaning my carpet for days. I’ve tried "Resolve", "Pine Sol", "vinegar and water solution", "Simple Green", "Skunk Odor Remover", "Live Micro 535", "alcohol and water solution", and "Draft" fragrance spray. I bought "Out! Stain and Odor Remover" so I’m going to try this. My cats are very old and I cannot deal with this anymore. I don’t know what I’m going to do, besides having to euthanize them. I don’t need anyone telling me I’m a horrible pet owner, because I’m not. I need some HELP! What can I use that will remove this cat urine odor. Removing my carpet is not an option. Is there anything else that can remove this odor?
Both of my cats are in their late teens almost twenty. I have brought them BOTH to the veterinarian. I’m also a Veterinarian Assistant. My one cat has had many strokes and suffers from dementia. NOTHING is wrong with them, besides old age. My carpet has NO PADDING either, and pulling it up to wash is not an option. I’ve asked advice from everyone even googled.

By the way THANK-YOU for the advice.

What is a better homemade carpet cleaning solution for a steam cleaner: Vinegar, OxyClean or Simple Green?

I’ve done some research and it seems that those are the ones most recommended by people for cheap homemade cleaning solutions to use with a rental carpet cleaner (I’m going to rent a Rug Doctor). Any opinions? I’m mostly concerned with trying to get up cat hair/dander, NOT removing stains or smells. I’m allergic and the cats used to live in my new bedroom. Thanks!

Cleaning A Carpet Without Using A Steam Cleaner?

I am 16 living with only my mother, two dogs, and two cats. As a second birthday gift I am cleaning the whole house since my mother does not want anything but seems to really appreciate me helping out around the house. Now, being very anal with cleaning, I am getting tired of not having a steam cleaner to aid me in cleaning the carpet in the computer room. The room seems to be hopeless because there is me (who sometimes has company), and the animals who practically live in that room only. I’ve discovered that if you continuously walk on the carpet your feet will eventually turn black. Not very inviting to know, but sadly it is true. I need to know if there are any other ways that I can get most of the animal fur and what ever inhabits the carpet out without using a steam cleaner. I have no way of transportation nor much money at the moment to go and buy a new steam cleaner (nor the brains to figure out which is the best to use). Is there anything I can use from household products to get out the miscellaneous crap?

Can dry cleaning your carpet remove cat urine odour?

Ok, another question about cat urine removal.

This is my situation. I was minding a friends cats for a couple of days. She assured me they were litter trained. I had them in one room for the first day to observe them and they seemed to be using the litter tray. I then let them roam the rest of the house. Big mistake! After a day, the smell hit me. Never having cats before, it was a shock and still is. The house reeks!

I hit the internet to find a solution. I found the common ones being vinegar, baking soda and odour removal products from the pet store. I first tried the enzyme products which included purchasing a black light. The light worked great but the product was crap (not cheap also). I still smell the urine but now blended with another smell. My partner likes to call it apple scented urine.

I then tried baking soda but can still smell urine. I was about to try vinegar but thought I’ll call a dry cleaning service for advice. They said vinegar was a big no no and that adding acid to acid would make the problem worse. They said dry cleaning was the only solution. I asked about steam cleaning and they also said that was bad because as it uses steam and water that only pushes the urine further down into the underlay which would make the problem worse.

Anyway, back to my question, has anyone had any success with dry cleaning as opposed to steaming the carpet?" The girl on the phone was a little pushy and I’m not sure if she was genuine or rather trying to make some money from me. Dry cleaning is a lot more expensive than steam cleaning and my rooms are quite large. I don’t want to undertake it if it’s only going to make the problem worse.

So if anyone can help, it would be GREATLY appreciated. Please do not say that replacing the carpet is the only option as it’s not for me. It’s only new (only a year or so old) and was quite expensive. The urine has only been there for a few days, so surely there must be a solution.

The cats are all gone and I need to fix this problem.

Carpet cleaning tips?

We live in a rented apartment, so we do our best to keep our very light coloured carpet clean. We have two cats, so needless to say I’m used to having to do the odd spot cleaning (i use Simple green) and about once a year or so I use a steam vac throughout the whole place.
I’ve noticed there’s this one stain, fairly large in size, that seems to disappear after I do the steam cleaning and slowly (within a month if not a little more) starts to reappear, I’ve tried scrubbing it over and over…nothing
Any suggestions?
By the way, the stain is like a dark grey I can’t tell what is it though..and my carpet is a light beige type color.
Thank you in advance.
