my dog has parvo virus and the only way to get rid of the virus is to use bleach. we are going to spray bleach on the back yard but i am afraid it is on my carpet as well the virus will live up to 6 months on any surface and i have two other healthy dogs. i do not want them to get sick. i was thinking of using my steam cleaner and putting very little bleach to water solution. would this work? i dont want to mess up my steam cleaner its still pretty new and i payed alot for it. but on the other hand i HAVE to get the virus out of my house. i have already bleached everything else in the house but the carpets. (also the dog with parvo was an outside dog but the day before we found out he had it we had him inside. he drooled on stuff and peed a little on the carpet.)
does anyone know if there is a product i could buy with bleach in it to maybe spray on my carpets or would it be ok to just spray a water bleach mix on them my actual vacum is cheap so if i break that while vacuming over some kind of bleach solution it doesnt matter

I am trying to take an old dirty room in my house that currently serves as storage space into an office space. The only problem is the smell. It is horrible, it smells like any old room would, with gallons of urine and old food thrown into the mix. We used to have a dog and two kids that would spend all their time up there. My question is How Do I get rid of stains and smells that are years old out of my carpet? I had a professional steam cleaner come in, and even that wasnt enough. The smell was gone untill the next hot day, then it came back full force. It is very embarrasing to have people over, my home is pretty clean and neat untill you get to that room. I think the stains are ash, very black and dirty looking that would make anyone think twice before taking your shoes off to walk across. Any help would be appreciated, but please understand that I have been trying for a while and have used shampoos and hired a pro, nothing seems to work.

Trying to buy a new steam cleaner that is good for cleaning up pet stains, and wont break down. I have used the brissell pro heat 2x and while it worked well the first two times, it seems to suck up less water now and just not work as well.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

It has been raining like crazy and our basement flooded. The sewer drain overflowed and went all over the floors. My mother insists we keep the carpet. Since I am a cynical germ phob and my room is in the basement. How can I make my room sterile again? Its my little sanctuary away from the world. We have been cleaning like crazy with bleach. Tomorrow we are renting a steam cleaner. What solutions can go in that steam cleaner to kill bacteria that lays in my carpet?

We just steamed cleaned our carpeting (with a rented steam cleaner) and while we are waiting for it to dry – it really has a bad odor all throught the house!!!! We have been doing this yearly for the past 15 years and have never had this problem….Any suggestions or thoughts about what happened? Or advise on a product I can buy that will neutralize the odor in the carpet?

Okay so we moved into our first house about a week ago. We were getting all settled in and I felt like the carpet needed a good cleaning. The people before us had two large dogs and there was hair everywhere. So I borrowed my moms heavy duty steam cleaner and gave it a try. It did a good job,but when I woke up the next morning there were random yellow spots. Well no one wants yellow spots on their white carpet so I figured maybe the steam cleaner didnt get all the water out. I went and rented a rug doctor and did a big no no and started cleaning it again just as it was almost dry. I think its safe to assume i saturated them and now Im really upset because I have yellow patches every where now :/ I cant afford to have new carpet or wood put in right now so I hired a carpet cleaning business. The mildew smell has subsided as its been extremely humid here for the past several days. Ive had every window in the house open and a fan going to get ventilation. So i guess my question is will the carpet cleaners be able to fix this? have i completely ruined the carpet and pad?Im not sure what to do….
